DESCRIPTION
Rosehip oil is a natural oil extracted from the seeds of the Wild Rose Bush. It is typically extracted from the seeds of wild rose bushes, rather than from plantation-grown plants. This is because the wild rose bushes are believed to produce a higher quality oil than cultivated plants, due to their exposure to the natural environment and the varied soil conditions in which they grow. It is produced from the various species of the Wild Rose Bush. The species Rosa moschata is native to Europe and Asia and is commonly known as the musk rose. It is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 2 meters tall and produces small, pink or white flowers in the spring and summer. The fruits of the musk rose are oval-shaped and range in colour from orange to red. The other species Rosa canina, also known as the dog rose, is native to Europe, Asia, and Africa. It is a scrambling shrub that can grow up to 5 meters tall and produces pink or white flowers in the spring and summer. The fruits of the dog rose are round or oval-shaped and range in colour from orange to red. The third species of Wild Rose Bush is, Rosa rubiginosa, which is also known as the sweet briar rose, and is native to Europe and western Asia. It is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 3 meters tall and produces pink or white flowers in the spring and summer.
The seeds inside the fruits from all these species are used to produce rosehip oil. All of these species of wild rose plants are known for their high concentration of vitamin C, which makes them a valuable source of this important nutrient. In addition, the seeds of these plants are rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which are key components of rosehip oil. However, the most commonly used for rosehip oil production are Rosa moschata and Rosa canina. When harvesting rosehips for oil production, the ripe fruits are typically collected by hand in the late summer or early fall, when they have turned a deep red or orange color. The seeds are then, removed from the fruit and cleaned before being cold-pressed to extract the oil. The oil is rich in vitamins A and C, as well as essential fatty acids and antioxidants. It is used in cosmetics and skin care products due to its potential benefits for the skin. This oil has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for a variety of skin conditions, such as eczema, acne, fine lines and wrinkles. It is believed to help reduce inflammation, promote cell regeneration, and improve skin elasticity and firmness. It is also used in aromatherapy as a natural fragrance and mood enhancer. It has a sweet, floral scent and is often blended with other essential oils to create a unique scent profile.
It is a versatile and beneficial ingredient that can be incorporated into a variety of skincare and beauty products, as well as used on its own as a natural remedy for various skin concerns. This oil is also a popular ingredient in skincare products due to its numerous potential benefits for the skin. However, the use of this oil can be traced back to ancient civilizations, including the Mayans and the Egyptians. The oil was often used for its healing properties, particularly for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. During World War II, it gained popularity in Britain as a natural source of vitamin C. The oil was used to make a syrup that was given to children to help prevent scurvy, a condition caused by vitamin C deficiency. In the 1980s, a study conducted by a team of researchers in Chile found that it had potential benefits for the skin, including the ability to reduce the appearance of scars and fine lines.
